One local LA artist, who goes by the name Seraph, likes to claim an ancient lineage for what he does:
"Graffiti art is derived form ancient civilisations. Basically, all the hieroglyphics that you see in the Great Pyramids of Egypt to the Mayan glyphs to the Romans, the Greeks, the Aztecs, the Incas, etcetera, etcetera and the caves of France as well. Everything is just done with aerosol spray paint you know, graffiti art."
